Linda Cooke

Artist

Even as a child, Linda loved the animals that roamed the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. It was at a very early age that she began to draw and paint them in their natural habitat. This was very natural for Linda, since all of her immediate family were painters.

Linda studied art and design at the Corcoran School of Art. From there she studied landscape painting under the direction of Bonnie Chumly and watercolor painting under the direction of internationally known artist, Clyde Roberts. She also has attended numerous workshops and seminars while constantly trying to improve upon her art. Senator John Warner of Virginia was so impressed with her work that he offered to sponsor her for even further training at the school of her choice.

Linda has been a long standing member of the Shenandoah Valley Artist’s Association and has won numerous awards with her paintings, among which are first place at the Waterford Art Show and 4th place in the Shenandoah Valley Art Association Show. There have been several interviews with Linda on cable television and she has had the distinction of being selected as “Artist of the Month“.

Linda paints in oils, watercolor and pastels. Wildlife scenes, landscapes and animal portraits are the subjects she paints most often, however, she has done portraits of people and other non-wildlife subjects. She has a fascination for the red fox and it has become her favorite subject.
