Larry Isard

Sculptor

Larry Isard lives in Cleveland, Ohio and works at The Cleveland Museum of Natural History. His 51-year career there began in 1947 as a volunteer. During this time he spent 10 years as an exhibits preparer and as a taxidermist and 21 years as assistant director of the Museum. His own interest in the environment and natural history helped created interesting exhibits states Larry in his own easygoing manner.

The magnificent display of dinosaurs and fish in the Kirtland Hall of Prehistoric Life, the extraordinary dioramas of lifelike animal mounts and cultural artifacts in Sears Hall of Human Ecology and the space created for temporary exhibits by the addition of Kahn Hall are just a few of the projects guided by Larry. "Exhibits is the most important division of the Museum," said Larry, who in retirement has returned to the exhibits division s a part-time sculptor and taxidermist.

Larry has put all these years experience together and can be found in his bronze sculptures. The warmth and love of nature is evident in each piece. You can also find a bit of humor in this beauty as found in GOTHIC TWILIGHT and a little mouse he did once as gifts to friends.
