Born of a Canadian father and an English mother, Maureen, herself,
was born in Bogota, Columbia. During her life time, she has traveled
the world and had many unique experiences. Anyone who has ever
met her would agree that there is no one else like her. For this
reason, the rest of Maureen's bio is going to be a direct quote
from her.
"After graduating from high school in Connecticut, I spent a year at the University of Madrid in Spain. I attended their faculity of fine arts and letters and was exposed to painters such as El Greco, Goya, Velasquez, Pissarro, and philosophers such as Miguel Unamuno, Melendez and Palayo. This reinforces my spanish heritage and after marriage, I attended the University of Bogota, Jorge Tadeo Lozano in Bogota. Other artistic exposure such as personal friendships with well known Latin artists led me to open my own gallery in Bogota in 1972. After moving back to the United States, I became a docent at the Lowe Art Museum, University of Miami, Miami, Florida and completed their training and art history requirements. Never thinking of putting color to canvas, I began to draw after the death of one of my closest and dearest friends and have not stopped since. The personal demand to use color has let me use both pastels and oils and experience the nuances of both mediums."
